word on the street / art buying for kids rooms (part 1)

after posting [lincoln's room], and the most recent [nursery ideas for a shared room], i have received some interest about where the art we buy comes from. here's a few places you can get your hands on some amazing artwork that will work great in your kid's room. some of these are prints, not paintings, which frame easily and wont empty your wallet. and paintings are a great investment, because these will gain value over time. think of art being a savings account that looks really beautiful on your wall and constantly inspires you. all these artists below are currently working in their field and producing some amazing larger scale projects as well. please browse around and fall in love.

cribs / sharing a room with baby

making room for another person in your family can be super exciting.. but living in the city has its limitations on space. we are lucky enough to have a three bedroom apartment. but unlucky in the sense that our family is far far away. so it is important to us to keep a comfortable space for our out of town family.

it will be easier, since we will have two boys, to have them share a room down the road. but for now, probably for the first year until they are both sleeping better, we moved some furniture around in our room and we are creating a little corner for our baby boy #2. we are going to keep it simple since our bedroom is tiny. (so tiny, we only have one night stand) but down the road if we live here or a different house, the boys will help us design an awesome room to co-habitat together. check out lincoln's room [here], although we have updated it again, with a big boy toddler bed. new post coming soon...

currently we share our room with the dog, and lincoln usually around 2am he comes wandering in for snuggles. so welcoming another small body isn't going to make much a difference in this little room.

1. [swankaroo - backpack camo] this was a birthday gift to lincoln, from his lady friend. (she has a matching one.. ahhh) these backpacks are amazing. i'm so obsessed.. once lincoln is walking this will be a daily accessory filled with toys and snacks!

2. [grey boy - city transit tank] i can't get over how cute my little man is in a tank top. this is obviously his favorite tank, because it was made with love by his mama ;) 

3. [thief and bandit - mountain shorts] hand drawn screen printed fabric and handmade, this canadian company has such amazing style. these shorts look awesome on little chunky legs and are made really well. the sizing is great. i got them a size up and thinking they will fit for next summer too!

4. [yummy - ice cream sandwich plush] just a fun silly toy to have for the summer. can be used as a key chain or can hook to a stroller / car seat.

5. [my american summer - by jon burgerman] talented artist created this book. amazing illustrations for any age to enjoy. doesn't get more summer than this.

6. [freshly picked - camo moccasins] i wish his moccasins still looked as new. he's been wearing them all summer. camo is my favorite print (especially for shoes) because they match everything.
