cribs / lincoln & julius' big boy shared room

this is an update from the previous [shared room post] - julius upgraded from a crib!

linc & jules have loved sharing a room. i went with a very basic naturey theme, and of course lincoln has his flare with his superhero sheets. their room is filled with memories and lots of love; trees from [julius' first birthday], their [growth chart], handmade gifts from friends, favorite books, blocks with their birth year.. etc.

living in the city, you dont get to be picky with bedroom size. i've been inspired by all the tiny houses people are living in. its amazing how many options you have for such a little space.

other than the crib being gone, i've updated their closet to be a play area with a firetruck house and bins of brio train tracks. i plan on posting their play/ work space next week! since lincoln is in montessori, he is very into "doing work" and i've created a workspace alongside my studio for the boys to "work" with me. stay tuned :)

cribs / lincoln & julius' shared room

when you are given a tiny closet sized room
and two tiny people to house..

you build mountains!

the boys and i moved at the beginning of the year and i finally painted their room last week!

living in the city, you dont get to be picky with bedroom size. i've been inspired by all the tiny houses people are living in. its amazing how many options you have for such a little space. their bedroom is mostly for sleeping. even though most mornings there are bodies in my bed ;)

nursery ideas for a shared room

the plan is to share our bedroom with baby #2 until he sleeps well enough to share a room with his brother. we have a dedicated "corner" of our room for baby #2. living in the city means our bedroom is already pretty small. but we measured out enough space and can fit a mini crib.. tight squeeze but it will do. i've been nesting like a wild woman, and even though he doesn't have a full nursery, i still want to get excited about decorating something ! i made him this [moon phase mobile] for his space, and here are a few other things that would look cute in his "corner". i kept in mind there is not much floor space.. so sticking to walls, some plush & blankets inside the crib, and maybe a small basket to go under the crib.

we have a few upgrades since the crib has left the room. we gave lincoln a toddler bed, which he loves and feels like such a big boy. and moved his bed over by his dresser, and made the other half of his room a "play room." he loves having all his toys in there (and its nice to have them out of the living room.) right now his favorite toys are brio trains and duplo legos. he got this awesome play kitchen for christmas last year. and now that he's sporty spice, he has basketball hoop in his room (basketball is definitely a favorite over the other sports). we plan on the boys sharing a room down the road... and i am already getting ideas on how to change it up for two boys.. but for the beginning, were going to keep baby #2 in our room.

cribs / sharing a room with baby

making room for another person in your family can be super exciting.. but living in the city has its limitations on space. we are lucky enough to have a three bedroom apartment. but unlucky in the sense that our family is far far away. so it is important to us to keep a comfortable space for our out of town family.

it will be easier, since we will have two boys, to have them share a room down the road. but for now, probably for the first year until they are both sleeping better, we moved some furniture around in our room and we are creating a little corner for our baby boy #2. we are going to keep it simple since our bedroom is tiny. (so tiny, we only have one night stand) but down the road if we live here or a different house, the boys will help us design an awesome room to co-habitat together. check out lincoln's room [here], although we have updated it again, with a big boy toddler bed. new post coming soon...

currently we share our room with the dog, and lincoln usually around 2am he comes wandering in for snuggles. so welcoming another small body isn't going to make much a difference in this little room.
